Minky is a short fluffy fabric often used in plushies; in some countries it may be called “plush” or “cuddle” fabric instead! Standard minky has a fur or “pile” of 2.5-3 mm, but it can range anywhere from 1 mm to 10 mm! The brands and naming can get a little confusing, so I separated the list into two options; those who carry Shannon brand minky and those who carry anything else.

Shannon Fabrics Brand
Shannon Fabrics minky is often considered the highest quality option in plush making, however they do not sell directly to consumers, only wholesale to businesses.

“Cuddle 3” in Shannon refers to the 3 mm standard length.
“Quilting Cuddle” is their 1.5 mm low pile non stretch option.
“Marshmallow Cuddle” is their 1 mm four way stretch (like mochi minky/squishmallow material).
“Luxe Cuddle” refers to all their longer piles collectively and there are a few types.

Non-Shannon Minky
Any shops selling minky/plush fabrics that are not Shannon brand. I do not think that means these are less worth looking at, but there may be a noticeable texture or color difference if you mix these and Shannon brand minky in the same project.

They sell their own brand of minky! The “Baby Soft Hug-Z” is their standard length, while the “Mochi Plush Hug-Z” is their 4-way stretch. (Beware, darker colors of their mochi are prone to dye bleeding.) They also have a few longer options.
