Some of the fur may not be as high quality or suitable for shaving as others, but I am including the sellers since they may be more accessible for buyers in some regions, or may have a color someone needs that doesn’t need to be shaved. I will put notes in the description if I have purchased from the shop or not, and how I liked the fur if I have.

If you are new to purchasing and working with fur, I recommend asking makers in your country where they prefer to buy their fur from! It can be hard to tell quality from listing photos and descriptions.
If color matching is very important to your project be sure to buy swatches first!
Always buy a bit more fur than you need; later dye lots may not match perfectly!

One of the quality standards in fursuit making, they are considered some of the most shavable and dense faux fur. Run by furries for furries, they only carry faux fur and minky.
I have ordered from them myself and find the quality to usually be worth the price! However be ready for long waits for orders, and colors regularly going out of stock.

A jack of all trades but master of none; they carry MANY varieties of fabric! Their EcoShag faux fur is dense and shavable and they also carry tinsel fur, stretch fur, and UV reactive fur!
You can also find fleece, minky, neoprene, and other helpful materials here so if you need to save on shipping they may be your best bet for varried orders!
I have ordered from them myself and find the quality is usually worth the price! I do not personally like their Short Shag for shaving but it is fine full length.

They do not have the widest selection of colors, but they do custom runs of fur and have some fursuit making tools/supplies as well (note: these are upcharged considerably so if you’re making more than a few suits you should find a direct supply source)
I have not ordered from them directly, however I have had the chance to use some FSS fur. I liked the quality a lot, but did not pay full price for it.

Another jack of all trades, master of none! Fabric Empire carries tons of fabrics and even upholstery foam! I have heard through sources I trust that they carry “Shannon” brand fur, but makers seem to disagree on how well it shaves. It should work well at full length though!
I have ordered from them before, but not their faux fur. Their shipping is fast and reasonably priced and the materials were good quality for the price.

One of the companies used in film and theater production – they have tons of specialty furs! They are definitely pricey, but if you need a long pile or specific texture they’re the place to have it! Most of the furs are not meant for shaving.

If you know about NFT you should also know about Hairmann’s Closet! It’s one of their sister sites – they specifically sell the discontinued, overstock, and remnants from NFT. Their drops sometimes go fast but they are definitely worth keeping an eye on!
